We had a pretty good day today - James got up early to run, I slept in until almost 9am and once we all got up and had breakfast, we walked the dogs.

James and I went off to Kensington, Inglewood & 17th Ave for a bit - wine & beer in Kensington, spices and Spolumbo in Inglewood (we also popped into the knife store there) and then lunch on 17th at the little mexican place between 12th & 14th street.

The little mexican joint was great - decently priced food, quick service and everything was really fresh and yummy.  We had planned to grab a coffee for the way home, but were both too full.  Once we got home, I decided it was nap time, Spence took a nap and James went off to check out a store for a new road bike.

He managed to stay within his budget and get a great new bike for riding to work and he'll be picking it up next week.

Once up, I started on supper - maui ribs, grama's oriental salad and noodles with some olive oil, garlic and peppers we got from the spice shop.  We had Graeme over, so the food got virtually all eaten, a few noodles and a little bit of salad left for tomorrows lunch.

Friday March 30

Today was a school holiday for us, so before Spence got up, I managed to do my first coat in the kitchen and it made a huge difference - the wallpaper looks better along with the cabinets.  One more coat next week and then I tackle trim and cabinet doors.

Spence got up at 9:30 and was ready to go with grama to hit golf balls by 10am.  They had a good time and after he dragged her out for lunch, they came home and we all headed off to swim lessons.  We got home, grama went on her way and I worked on pizza dough.

Once dinner was made (soup & flat bread for James and me / pizza for Spence), we walked the dogs and then I headed out for the homeschool mom's coffee night.

I got Spence up early so that we could do our stuff together - Atlas Shrugged, essay, spelling and then it was time for me to get organized to leave to go to my client.

Spence then finished up his math (today was reading a new section), silent reading, drum practice, watched some history, did his printing practice and tidied up a bit.

I got home, popped some potatoes in the oven, took the dogs for a walk and am planning to chill for the rest of the night.

I let Spence sleep in until 8:30 today because we didn't have anywhere to go until 1pm.  We started with Atlas Shrugged, then silent reading, spelling, Deadliest Warrior, printing, math (if/then statements today), drum practice - he chickened out on the really difficult beat he's been working on and just did some nice easy ones he knows off by heart.  Then it was Italian, driver's handbook, lunch, essay and clean out the dust on his computer (hoping that will solve the overheating problem he's having).

Then it was get ready for parkour, tidy up his lounge and head out the door.  It was our last parkour class for the season and Spence had a great time.  We headed home and grabbed Karma, who was playing with her friend Karma (another husky/shepherd cross).

Tonight we made spaghetti with mushroom tomato sauce, then it was chill time.

We got an early start today - I got Karma off to daycare, got the dry cleaning and walked Hunter before I got Spence up just before 8am.  While he had breakfast, I read Atlas Shrugged to him and then he watched Sci-Fi Science (Super Heroes), did silent reading, Italian and printing - while I went grocery shopping.

He finished off with math, driver's exam and essay review with me on the paragraph he had edited on Monday.

We got organized and left for our movie at 10:30.  We arrived at the theatre with 15 minutes to spare and found out our group had also arrived early and so we all got into the theatre about 15 minutes before the show started.  We were there to watch Hunger Games and it was good.  Like Harry Potter, the film didn't skip anything that was important to the story line, a few minor changes from the book and it added some stuff that the book didn't spend too much time on - so if you read the book and watched the movie, they went well together.  Can't wait for the 2nd installment of the movie.  The only complaint I had was that the filming was like with a handy cam and I got motion sick watching it in parts.  There was a scene at the end of the show - which I knew was scary - but still managed to jump high enough to disturb everyone around me :)

We then headed to drum lessons and between Tom Tom, the lights and the old folks driving 40 on a highway marked 80 we managed to take almost an hour to get up north.  Sometimes, Tom Tom thinks it's taking you a faster route - but it's not.

We did Spencer's drum lesson and then got Karma and headed home.  I had made chili in the crockpot this morning and so that was ready when we got home.  I finished putting away all the dry stuff I bought this morning, tidied up the kitchen and made Spencer his taco filling.

Hopefully, will just chill for the rest of the night, James has swim practice, but otherwise it should be pretty quiet.

Monday, March 26, 2012

It was a good day today - we started with Atlas Shrugged, math quiz, spelling, Columbus for history reading and then reading some Teen Titans, practicing drums, reading driver's handbook, Italian and then finally more editing on the essay.

We had some lunch and then headed over to Jacob's place.  Originally Karma was going to stay home today - but after a half hour of play and some chewing (hairbrush, gloves, ...) I decided she needed some big play and toted her off to daycare - she came home exhausted and went straight to sleep.

Saturday, I headed off to Canmore to install a new computer at my mom's place.  Spence and James chilled at home, we ordered Chinese for supper.

Today, James went off to swim club and I did chores and got all my baking in for the week (still baking, but should be done by the time I head off to bed).  Grama & Grampa came over for coffee and madalines.  Nice to catch up with them :)

Good weekend overall.
