Today, James got up early and got ready to head out to the mountains for the last summer weather ride. They didn't get home till about 4pm and had a great time. James was really worn out from all the riding.

In the meantime, Spence and I chilled (well Spence did). I cleaned the garage, sanded and painted the bathroom cabinet doors (still have one side to do), went grocery shopping, tidied up the house, made french bread for supper with pasta and tomato sauce. I am tired too, but not as tired as James.

Spence got up we did spelling, budget, planning, Anne, Ranger, art, math quiz, drums, reading, writing, printing and finally swim lessons.

In between we finished watching Dragon Hunters on the new Netflix service on our PS3 - it was a cute movie and the quality of the video was really good (5.1 surround and HD cartoon and no hiccups on the live stream).

We headed to Costco after swimming - there was construction on the QE2 and so we opted to go the back route - got caught behind THE SLOWEST DRIVER EVER! He had a jag and couldn't figure out how to cross the road - so everyone was going around him - he decided he could finally venture out into the road when I was behind him and then I got stuck behind him all the way into Calgary. So a 20 minute trip turned into a 45 minute trip...it's good we didn't have to be anywhere by a certain time.

We did our Costco run and hopefully we won't have to go back for a while - the shopping time was 15 minutes and the line time was 45 minutes....I have to reassess if it's worth going there when you have to wait so long. We did save a bundle though on the stuff we bought.

We headed home and James had already been and gone (he has another Corp Challenge night tonight) and we started supper right away (chicken wings & pot stickers for Spence and pizza focaccia bread for me) and then did our chores - vacuum the house, put away the groceries we bought, clean out the fish tank and soon I hope to get off the couch and sand a door or two.

After breakfast, we read Anne, Ranger and then did math - measuring and scale drawings. We continued with spelling, reading, printing, Deuteronomy - where we read up on the Sumerian and Canaanite kingdoms of 2500 - 1500 BC and cross referenced with the chapter we were reading about them and how their kingdoms eventually disappeared.

We finished off with lunch and drum practice and then while I ran a few errands, Spence tidied up his area before Jonathan and his mom came by for the afternoon.

The boys had a good play outside and then came in to play video games and then it was time to walk the dog for us and for Jonathan & his mom to head home.

James has a Corp Challenge event tonight, so Spence and I are scrounging - spaghetti & sauce for me and spaghetti taco's for Spence. Now it's time to watch the new shows for the season and check out what's new on Netflix :)

I got Spence up early so that we could be done school by 10:30 this morning. I had client meetings from 11 - 3 today and so we finished up quickly....he got to play video games as a treat for the rest of the day.

We did math, spelling, Anne, Ranger, he started on a new story, did his printing, read, practiced his drums and watched a Templar DVD from the History Channel.

I got home and we got supper ready - perogies and pasta (for Spence) and tonight we watch more season openers and pilots.

Today, Spence got up and we read Anne & Ranger and moved onto Mythbusters. Spence moved onto reading, math, printing and then we had lunch. While I ran a few errands, Spence researched his new writing project and made some notes. We finished off with spelling and he took a break, while I finished baking the new sandwich bread recipe I was trying, the pupusa I was trying (an Ecuadorian stuffed flat bread) out, the tortilla shells we were making for supper (missed the homemade tortilla's), guacamole for supper, veggie ground and fixings.

We left for drum lessons and Spence got an extra 20 minutes because the kid whose lesson is after Spencer's was canceled. Then we went home, dropped off our drum stuff and grabbed a pupusa each and headed out to climbing.

We bouldered for a good half hour (got lots of good pics / video), just need to get them off the phone. We headed home - almost had someone turn right into me on 16th....the guy paid no attention to the traffic coming at him and decided to barrel into my truck. I managed to swerve and not hit anyone and got around the guy.

Got home, got the fixings out and got supper ready. Now watching all the new shows we PVR'd last night.

James took a flex day today and we went horseback riding for the day. It was actually only an hour, but with the drive there and back + getting ready and getting ready to go home, it took us a half day.

It was a fun time and reasonably priced. We had a great guide and we were the only ones at the ranch.

When we got home, it took time to warm up and by then we decided we were going to skip school for the day and catch up over the next few weeks :)

Pretty hum drum weekend - we just chilled and relaxed and the boys played Halo and a few other games.
