We started off with Anne & the Ranger and moved onto Deuteronomy and the Wormhole series we're watching on Discovery. He did his planning for next week, updated his budget and did his silent reading.

We had lunch, got ready for swim class and then he did his spelling, math review on standard conversions, finished editing his Assassin's Creed document and posted that and did his printing practice.

We left for swim lessons and made it there just in time. After the hour class, I dropped Spence off at home and went to the Apple store to pick up our phones.

Spence finished drum practice and Italian while I was out and then took a break. I went to the mall and waited - and waited - finally the girl comes out and has everything ready to go. I had to get cases outside the store as they were sold out and it takes a good 6 - 8 weeks is what she said to get the free cases....never hurts to have two.

I got home, we walked the dog, vacuumed and got the house tidy and did our recycling. By then it was 6:30 and we were starved. Lots of left over's in the fridge and so we heated stuff up and finished off the rice, potatoes and other snacks.

James got home just before 8pm, as he was helping his firm with some recruiting and we all chilled - customizing phones and playing video games (Spence) for the rest of the night.

Assassin's Creed Writeup

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Spence was up by 8:45 - let him sleep in a bit as he had a pretty rough night. We started off with a History Channel show on Pompeii - very cool. Then we read Anne, Ranger and we started on a study of Deuteronomy against what weapons they used and could we corroborate the events & people in history through other sources. It was lots of fun actually - we cross referenced a King Og, against Phoenician writing and folklore in Islam and Armenia. The weapons were almost non-existent in the chapter we read, so we are hoping for some tomorrow [because it's really all about the weapons :) ].

He did some silent reading, ate some lunch and went back to reading. We did his spelling, drums, worked a bit on his essay and then did a conversion drill on the way to Amy's place.

We arrived and the boys played for a solid 3 hours and then we had to leave as traffic was already pretty heavy. It took us 20 minutes to get to her house and 60 to get home.

We walked the dog and got a slushy for Spence and then had mashed potatoes, gravy and veggie chicken nuggets for supper.

Tomorrow is our first swim class for the season and Spence is not excited, but is looking forward to getting the classes done and over with.

After breakfast, Spence started with a DVD while I went to drop off the bug for some warranty work (yes, VW warranties a 10 yr old car for some stuff). I arrived and went to get my ride home, when the guys says - it'll be 30 - 45 minutes before he gets back. I'm like, no - gotta get home before that.

So I took the car home, will have to rebook next week. Spence was reading by then and once he was done, we read Anne & the Ranger series. He then watched a show on Iceland and their volcano's. Then a really neat show about the Anatomy of a Shark Bite - I have never seen live footage of sharks tasting people - but they had it and were talking about why that would happen, etc. Very informative and interesting - but not suitable for younger viewers.

Then we had lunch and did spelling, math (continuing to work on standard conversions), printing practice and drums. Once drums were done, Spence finished off with more research and writing on the Assassin's Creed - we hope to have it up on Friday.

He took a break, then went skateboarding in our garage (practicing his tricks) and then we walked the dog. James arrived around that time and then headed off to his Corporate Challenge, while Spence and I had home made french bread with pasta & sauce.

Now it's chill time, Spence is playing his Halo game with his buddies and tomorrow we're waiting to see if it'll still snow.

I had to get Spence up early today, as I needed to meet with a client first thing. He did his silent reading, printing practice and watched a DVD and by then I was home.

We had an early lunch, did spelling, read the Ranger, Anne, did math - conversions today and then took a break. He then started on his essay and will continue tomorrow.

We got ready and then headed off to drum lessons (1st one since summer break) and finally home after a few store stops (dry cleaning and a few things at the grocery store).

We made taco's for supper and then headed to the mall to pick up the new Halo Reach game we had pre-ordered. The line up was pretty long, but they had staff and so the line moved pretty quickly.

Spence started with Mythbusters, then while I went to the doctor's to check on my wrist, Spence did drums and writing.

The doc had prescribed a splint for my wrist - which may take between a few months to a year to heal...good news though, she said I could keep doing all my sports activities - just have to wear the splint.

I got the splint on the way home and then Spence and I read Anne and the Ranger book. While he ate lunch, he started to research the history of the Assassin's Creed game. The game is based on some actual history and they hired few history profs and archeologists to get the game right - so he was busy researching all the characters, the locations, etc. He did that for almost a whole hour before he thought he'd done enough for the day (he'll be writing up a paper on this tomorrow). We did his spelling, silent reading, math and then we got the house tidied up.

I went down to get my pants, which were altered while I was away and by the time I got back, it was time to walk the dog and get ready to go climbing.

We met James at the climbing gym and bouldered for a bit, then came home to perogies for supper.
